How to Read This Site

Thank you for your interest in where this planet is heading. A global paradigm shift is on the horizon: International scientists see it. The Bible says it. Christians should be watchmen on the wall with the scientists, but for many reasons we have not brought the book of Revelation in the Bible into the 21st century where it belongs. We are going to take a close look at both the Bible and science, because together, they are shouting in one accord–astounding changes are coming and we must be ready.

There are places (like Chapter 1 Overview) where I will summarize content (what). Here I talk about structure (how). But before that, I want to share why. Why am I writing this to you?

To the point, the world as we know it is going to end, probably before the completion of this century. As NASA’s James Hansen put it, great global catastrophe will come most likely within the lifetime of his grandchildren.[1] He thinks humanity can still save earth. Revelation, the last book in the Bible from Jesus, says we can’t. Jesus also said that His second coming “will be just like the days of Noah [the global collapse of civilization] . . . “for this reason, you also must be ready,” (Matt 24:37-44). So before a flood of adversity hits our world, we need to “be ready.” Scripture and science will tell us what is going to happen and how to prepare. Ready or not, it is going to happen. It has begun.

The Structure

This website is a book. On Word Docs. it is about 100 pages (which is short for summarizing how Revelation and science synergize toward global collapse). It has fifteen (15) chapters located in the Navigation Menu. It has appendices located in the New Posts Menu. New Posts will be updated and added to regularly (about one new post every week) as more scientific support pours in from around the world and as tough theological issues relevant to this topic need to be addressed. Anything that keeps us dancing on the Titanic instead of building our arks is open for discussion in New Posts.

Chapters 1 and 2 are overview and preface.

Chapters 3 and 4 teach the formal discovery of truth. (These are the same foundational laws used by just judicial systems, science, technology, and any discipline that must interface with reality for success.) We need sharp, clear thinking to cut through all the false scenarios and errant beliefs in order to find the truth of what is really going to happen. Do we know and follow formal laws for right thinking?

Chapters 5 and 6 reveal the Old Testament (OT) roots of Revelation. God forewarned humanity from the very beginning that He could raise or raze one or all nations–why He would do it, how He would do it, and what we could do to stop or start the destruction. History showed He kept His word. Science shows He is doing it today. What He did before to a nation, He will do in the end to all the nations. “I, the Lord, do not change,” (Mal 3:6).

Chapters 7 through 13 are the science (lots and lots of science with citations!) proving that God keeps His word. Science predictions and biblical prophecies are emerging and merging like never before!

Chapter 14 contains charts simplifying mountains of information from science and the Bible all pointing in one direction: the global collapse of civilization surrounding the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Chapter 15 is how to be ready as Jesus commands us (Matt 24:37-44) in both spiritual and practical ways.

If you are interested predominantly in the science (such as adding 40 billion tons a year of CO2 to our skies, towns above the Arctic Circle hitting record-breaking 100.4°F, Greenland losing 286 billion tons of ice per year, decreasing reflection of heat through loss of white ice, increasing absorption of heat by dark oceans raising global warming . . .) then consider chapters 7 through 13. If you want to know why this is happening and where it is going, chapters 1-6 will answer those questions. If you want the big picture, just start from the beginning. The sources are solid. The information is accurate. Whether you agree or not, thank you for your time and consideration of this topic. You are in my prayers.

May God keep you safe and healthy,

Dr. B. A. Vannah

Bible and Science Merge

COVID-19 and Deception

In a crisis, the deception of safety is dangerous;
it prevents ongoing fact intensive reasoning, preparation, and protection.
A global pandemic is one crisis.
A global collapse will be many crises.
If we can't get it right with one, we won't get it right with many.

This paper will examine the essence of deception to understand how deception becomes deadly in a current event–the pandemic of COVID-19 caused by the coronavirus.

The power of deception that is causing millions of needless deaths in one crisis will cause billions of deaths in the complex collapse of civilization involving many crises.

Deception will be the  primary strategy used to bring the downfall of humanity, just as it was in the Garden and will be by the Antichrist.

“Satan . . . deceives the whole world,” (Rev 12:9).

“The serpent deceived me,” (Gen 3:13).

“He deceives those who dwell on the earth,” (Rev 13:14).

If we understand how deception functions and replace it with the Bible’s laws in our thinking, we can conquer this darkness and prevail in our own lives. It is part of building our ark.

If we get it right with one, we are stronger and smarter to get it right with many.

“He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much,” (Luke 16:10).

What is deception?

Let us begin with the most classic example on the planet that provides the best definition: Eve was deceived.[1] She even figured it out–way too late–but in the end, she knew she had been deceived; “The serpent deceived me.”[2] How? That’s the BIG question: HOW!

Carefully consider the essence of deception. Deception requires two things: good and evil. Satan used the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil to deceive Eve.[3] It had both good and evil. The tree looked good! It “was desirable.” It was “a delight to the eyes.” [4]

The tree was also evil; it was destructive and deadly.

Therein is the essence of deception: good mixed with evil. The optimum word in the title, Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, is the word “and.”

Mixing good and evil is the open door for deception and easy to walk through, if we do not think according to God’s biblical laws for discerning truth. (For a discussion of these laws of truth, see Chapter 3: Truth Reveals Reality.)

Pure evil does not fool anyone

any more that pure poison fools a rat.

If you are going to kill a rat, they are just too smart for pure poison (just like pure evil is too obnoxious for most people to stomach). A death potion requires 99% good wheat and 1% arsenic; it will drop ’em dead. Good plus evil deceives them, then destroys them.

Think of all the things we as Christians know are destructive, a form of poison, or evil according to God’s laws, and yet, many in the world believe they are “good” and crave them. “Good” is defined in the world’s shallow sense of looks good, feels good, tastes good–even if it kills you. True “good” is based on following biblical laws and always edifies or at least does no harm.[5]) Illegal drugs, adultery, pornography, stealing, mob violence, . . . all feel good but are evil. Like salt water to a man on a raft in the middle of the ocean, it temporarily quenches thirst but is deadly.

Good mixed with evil opens the door to deception. There is always something good–whether man’s false good or God’s true good–that attracts us before we can be deceived. However, when God says something has evil, that evil always, ALWAYS outweighs the good. It is never right in the eyes of God to sin (commit evil) in order to achieve good.

The Lesser Good and the Greater Evil

Because the darkness of deception will be a primary factor in the excessive death toll of both the current global pandemic and the future global collapse, determining the essence of deception is the core this paper. If we can conquer deception, we can clear our minds for sharp, powerful thinking according to the biblical laws of truth to increase our chances of survival. (C.f. Chapter 3)

Noah had clear thinking. By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his family.[6] He believed God’s word and rightly discerned the world around him. He made high-quality choices and saved the lives of his family.

Under deception, we choose a lesser good that unleashes a greater evil. There is always good and evil in the equation of deception. There are always priorities to evaluate. There are always biblical laws that will be broken if we are deceived. We may have knowledge of the oncoming evil–170,000 U.S. deaths from COVID-19. Or we may be ignorant of the oncoming evil–the eleven did not know of Judas’ coming deadly betrayal. In the equation of deception, destructive sin is waiting.

If Noah had been deceived, he could have chosen a lesser good that would have eventually brought the greater evil–the drowning of his family. Here are some good reasons to not build the ark:

  • Preach God’s message, but don’t pick up a hammer–building an ark is too extreme.[7] Less work is good.
  • Don’t preach, just quietly believe, because people will laugh or get angry. Keeping peace is good.
  • The town needs me, I’ll have time in another 50 years or so to start the ark. Helping other people is good.
  • The “ark” and “the flood” are metaphorical, not literal. Preaching is good.
  • Building an ark has never been done before. I’m too small. I’m too old. (Noah was 500 yrs. old! Gen 5:32) I’m too tired. I’m too busy. My wife won’t like the mess. There might be a lion out there.[8]

There are a lot of good reasons to not build an ark. Under deception, we choose a lesser good that eventually unleashes a greater evil. Noah’s family would have died, if Noah had chosen the lesser good.  Protecting human life was the highest good.

Response to Danger by a Sane Person

In the situations under consideration, human life is always at stake.

The healthy universal response to danger against human life is the avoidance or elimination of harm. If a poisonous snake sits in the road, then run, shoot, or bag him. God gives all adults across all countries physical senses to discern danger and mental reasoning to deal with it safely. This is called mental order, which is in harmony with God’s order.

Only in mental disorders do grown people invite the deadly snake to bite them or someone else.

What God put in the healthy human heart, He also put in the Bible.[9] If our conscience is not properly functioning, then the hard copy defining mental order is in the Bible with laws and commands to guide us back into God’s order. As individual and societal conscience dims, the Bible is always our blazing light guiding our journey safely and successfully through the darkness.

The Biblical Response to Danger [77]

Satan tempted Jesus to jump off a high building to prove God’s love and power for Him and who He was.  Satan’s implicit message involved “glorifying God” by proving His protection against reckless mortal danger for His Son. Jesus refused to test God.[10] He saw danger and He avoided it. Needlessly putting ourselves or others in serious physical danger  without good cause is against biblical law as well as secular state and federal laws.[11] (See footnote defining “good cause.”[12]

Jesus said that when an enemy approaches for war–mortal danger–count the soldiers on both sides then use reason and common sense to make a high-quality decision.[13]

Paul used his senses and reason to discern that sailing into a big storm was dangerous. He told ship leaders that it was unwise to sail. They sailed. The violent sea swallowed up both ship and cargo with great loss. Discerning the weather, using reason, and listening to a man of God with common sense would have kept them safe. [78]

            They suffered needlessly.[14]

God told “a man of God” to go home a certain way and do nothing else. A false man persuaded the man of God to go another way and do another thing. When the man of God finally left, he ran into a lion that killed him. God’s way was safe. He would have missed the lion. The false man’s way ended in pain and death. Even a “man of God” or a born again Christian can suffer needless harm when he or she rejects knowledge and common sense or disobeys God’s explicit commands.[15]

“A lion met him on the way and killed him.” [79]

This principle is really important. I beg you to not be lulled into a false sense of security because you are a Christian, an American, rich, educated or anything else. Disobey God and His warnings or recklessly jump into danger and we may suffer the consequences.

Jeremiah warned the people against a deceptive belief of safety when God repeatedly forewarned of coming danger. The prophet said to the people, “Do not trust in deceptive words, saying, ‘This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord.'”[16] The Jewish people said that because God was with them in the temple. God commanded worship. He would keep them safe from any harm no matter what they did; God’s judgment would not touch them. In 586-7 B.C., the Babylonians burned the temple to the ground and took millions of Jews into captivity.

This last example is the same reasoning some churches are using to defy local health restrictions and to recklessly endanger the lives of others through large, unprotected meetings. They say God is with them, so they won’t get sick. Sadly, sickness and death have taught many of them that testing God does not end well. When He gives us the knowledge and intelligence to discern danger, we need to act according to His greater commands–like “love your neighbor”–to protect human life.

Deception and COVID-19

“I thought this was a hoax

“This” refers to the deadly virus causing a pandemic killing thousands.

A “Covid party” is a gathering held by a person diagnosed with coronavirus to see if the virus is real and if anyone gets infected. Students in the largest campus of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa added gambling to the party. Students put money in a pot, and the first person to catch the virus got the pot.

Multiple articles by reliable sources quoted the dying words of a thirty-year-old man (who had attended a Covid party in Texas) as he lay in the Methodist hospital in San Antonio. Dr. Jane Appleby, the chief medical officer, took his very tragic words to the world: “I think I made a mistake, I thought this was a hoax, but it’s not.” Dr. Appleby stated, “A broader age range were being affected, with several 20 and 30 year olds critically ill at the Methodist hospital.”

Texas continued the battle against rising COVID hitting 22% positive tests with state health officials reporting 8,196 new cases on Sunday, another 80 deaths, and a total of 10,410 people hospitalized due to the virus.[17]

Karen Sehlke, a wife and mother of two young teens, called COVID a “hoax” on Facebook. She stated, “You don’t need hand sanitizer . . . You need faith . . . and of course guns!” She caught it. Very sadly, she died.[18]

This young man and woman (no relationship, but they were both from Texas) called COVID a hoax. Was it? According to the World Health Organization, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused 708,639 deaths with 18,854,287 confirmed cases.

Where was the deception? “You surely will not die!”[19] COVID is just a hoax, a game, nothing serious. Do those words sound familiar? One side of the coin of deception negated the danger, the other side promised safety, security, “good.” Eve ate the tasty apple. The thirty-year-old man attended a fun party. They chose the lesser good and died.

Too late, Eve and the man learned that they had been deceived. The good (apple/party) did not out weight the evil (death). Good and evil mixed together led to deception. They each chose a lesser “good” that unleashed a greater evil–death.

CNN reported a study published in the American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene on COVID-19 misinformation spreading in 25 different languages in 87 countries. Misinformation included:

  • Drinking bleach kills the virus.
  • Every disease has come from China.
  • It’s a bio-weapon by (a rich couple).
  • Eggs carry the virus.
  • High levels of alcohol in the body can kill the virus.

Following misinformation, 800 people died, 5,876 were hospitalized, and 60 went permanently blind after drinking methanol (wood alcohol) as a cure for coronavirus. [19A] They were all deceived.

The old, old trick

How do we become deceived? It is the same old scheme Satan used in the Garden of Eden.

First, deny or minimized the evil. “You surely will not die.”

Second, avoid following the biblical laws to discern truth. Do not do a thorough investigation or seek out multiple eye-witnesses of good character–primary sources, which in this case are scientists and doctors from CDC, WHO, Tufts University, John Hopkins University, or the M.D.s in the local hospitals; experts who spend their lives trying to keep others safe from diseases by seeking truth. [19B]

Third, believe someone else. The usual choice is to reject the experts who have spent their lives doing thorough investigations into the problem and accept someone close or supported by those around us, even though that someone has no expertise in the field.

Instead of sound facts, believe popular opinion by political parties on medical issues (not doctors), by friends (not national health organizations), even by religious leaders (in “faith,” they deny medical issues, or in some cases, use “faith” claiming to recreate reality or prove God).

As death approached–like Eve–the deception lifted and Karen realized too late that COVID was deadly. Eve said the serpent deceived her. Karen said she had been deceived by “media driven” propaganda. The false information was “controlled by the radical people in powerful places.”[20] Karen was from Texas and loved Trump. Trump’s message has been–up to the time of Karen’s death–no need for masks, stop testing, and don’t worry because COVID will go away, so get back to school and go back to work. Several states followed the politics instead of the CDC and the spread of the virus exploded.

The Georgia guinea pig

Georgia was the guinea pig. They sent the kids back to school in early August. By August 8th in 2020, 260 employees in Georgia’s largest school district either tested positive for or were exposed to COVID-19.[21] Despite this, nearly 6,000 people signed a petition in support of in-person classes. Cobb County Schools Superintendent Chris Ragsdale changed his mind and said the school district would remain virtual until public health data from local and state public health officials recommended in-person education.[22] To date, Cobb county has 1,363 currently hospitalized and 317 deaths from COVID-19.

On the same day, August 8th, Vincent Barone writing for a local NBC affiliate reported “Georgia’s youngest COVID-19 death is a 7-year-old with no underlying conditions.” [22A] The boy caught the virus attending a Savannah church.

Georgia took 4 months to reach 100,000 COVID-19 cases. In just 4 weeks by August 5th, the caseload passed 200,000.

One large church in San Diego with three campuses has repeatedly defied the county’s public health order to keep people safe from COVID-19 by stopping assemblies. After the threat of fines, the rich church closed its doors and went online. Denial of COVID’s deadly effects was not the only deception plaguing this church, they thought God would alter reality for them, if they spoke the right words and had enough “faith. “[23]

What about jumping off the cliff–leaving a place of safety and putting ourselves in mortal danger?

A full time, dedicated Christian blind man was with me in Albertville, France at language school. He received an international telephone call from the elders of his church back in the U.S. They were in a panic. They had all gathered and prayed over a diabetic woman for God to heal her. In high emotion and great “faith,” they declared her healed. To prove her faith, they told her that she no longer needed her insulin. Therefore, she stopped all insulin. She died. “Why?” they beseeched the blind Christian. He simply responded, “God gave her the miracle. You took it away.” They tested God when they pushed her off the cliff.

By following the biblical laws for discerning truth that came down into the foundation of medicine, scientists and doctors learned the truth about diabetes and insulin. These laws of God led the way to the cure. This was a gift of God to those who obey His laws.[24]

The schools, churches, and individuals were deceived. They minimized the evil and maximized the “good.” Their disregard for the evil, led them into sin. Endangering human life took a back seat to religion, politics, education, economy, and sundry other good things they deemed more important than human life. One way or another, they denied the evil, just as Eve had denied the mortal danger God forewarned in the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.

Death broke through their deception, just like it did in the Garden –the hard way.

Churches That Are Deceived

Google “churches that met together and caught coronavirus” to find three full pages of churches that are meeting and spreading the plague.

Like everyone else, churches have knowledge and access to the facts revealing–according to John Hopkins University–that over 170,000 Americans have died from this deadly virus, which is spread easily by casual contact causing a domino effect down through the web of relationships. COVID-19 is a dangerous, life-threatening disease.

In fact,  a new study supported by the World Health Organization, the Journal of American Medical Association, and Tufts University proved that some people without any symptoms, can not only carry just as much coronavirus as a sick person, but transmit it in the same way. The Director of NIAID since 1984, Dr. Anthony Fauci, stated that “20% to 45% of infected people don’t have symptoms.”[25]

The teachers, students, and churchgoers who defy social distancing and masks in cool spots and lockdown in hot spots for the virus not only put themselves in harm’s way, but everyone down their domino line of contacts.

One death is one too many. [81]

Just one

It is not just the huge numbers of people dying from the pandemic. It is the one small person. What we do to even one of the least, we do to the King of kings Himself.[26] Every individual person is important to God. The seven-year-old boy or an 80-year-old woman who die earlier than they should have because of COVID-19 are just as important as millions who die of the disease. Jesus is with “even one of the least of these.”

So if only one has died in your town or school or church, that is one too many. The mayor, superintendent, or pastor/priest should have protected every single person. Good shepherds watch out for one and for all.

Deception: Testing God glorifies Him

Some Christians think testing God glorifies Him. “We will gather in church to worship Him and prove to the world God protects us.” In reality, “jumping off the roof” angers Him. The Israelites tested God ten times through a variety of ways. In the end, “many people of Israel died” from His anger. He also prevented most from entering the Promised Land.[27]

Jesus refused to test God by putting Himself in harm’s way.[28] Proving God would protect Him, even from reckless endangerment of His own life, was not just foolish, but evil. “You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.”[29] It was sin.

Churches and schools meeting in the middle of a pandemic in a town rising numbers of cases and deaths all around them are in sin.

Burning the church to the ground

CBS News reported a church in Mississippi that defied stay-at-home orders and was burned to the ground.[30] Written on its property was, “Bet you stay home now you hypokrites.” The arsonist(s) broke numerous laws of God in their evil act. They returned “evil for evil.”[31]

Was the church glorifying God in her defiance? “Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God . . . whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God.”[32]  The church was in sin. The city of Holy Springs was trying to save human life by preventing the spread of a deadly virus. They defied the city governance.

When nonchristians saw Christians putting themselves and others in mortal danger of this deadly virus, they became angry. They looked at Christians as hypocrites: You say you love others, then you endanger our lives. This contradictory message (I love you, but I’ll kill you) shocked the community.

What does the Bible say? “Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.”[33] What does Jesus say? “The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”[34]  “Love edifies.”[35] “Let all things be done for edification.”[36] Spreading a deadly disease is not love. Disease tears down, not builds up. If your public worship kills one person or puts them in the hospital, it is a grievous sin. Worship on zoom and at home.

Regarding the burned church, I understand the nonchristians. Their lives are not built upon the laws of God in the Bible. So when someone threatens their lives, the lives of their families, children, and friends, they strike back without law. They returned evil for evil.

But the Christians started it. The Christians showed blatant disrespect for a town ordinance meant to save life (considered good in the Bible). They put themselves, their families, their neighbors, and everyone in their town with whom they came in contact in mortal danger. Do Christians want to be threatened with a bio-weapon?  Can’t they use the Golden Rule to understand how their neighbors would feel about such a threat? No. Some are in the darkness of deception.

Some churches that deny reality, get around this by naming and claiming good health for everyone in their congregation. They think they control God. This is a deadly mistake. God is always sovereign. Some churches literally think that they can create reality like God did during creation. This is another mistake. All they have to do is control that little virus–by mere words. Here is another mistake.

Using God’s biblical laws of truth that come down into good science, that little virus is controlled by staying out of its way. There is no word, no vaccine, no medicine that stops this carrier of death at this point. You either obey God’s laws (resulting in the current conclusions of science), step out of its way, or people keep dying (over 1,000 a day in the U.S. at this time).

Jesus did not want to die. He asked His Father to find another way to save humanity. The Father said no. Jesus said, “Thy will, not Mine, be done.” These churches are not submitting to God, not using the knowledge and wisdom He gives for protection, but raising themselves above God to tell Him what to do–to submit to their will.

In the end, the church’s reckless disregard for human life shamed God.[37] The nonchristians were so angry at the church’s sins, that they burned the church down.

To nonchristians with their common sense still intact and moral law still written on their hearts, churches that protect their people and others from a deadly virus by following prescribed precautions are following “the tenets of their faith: loving one’s neighbors and protecting and showing charity to the weak and needy.” This glorifies God. These words were written by a secular news organization.[38] Protecting others shows Christian love, especially to nonchristians who need to see God’s mercy in a time of crisis.

Deception: Breaking local laws to exercise religious freedom is my right

COVID-19 was not a religious issue. It was a health issue. Repeatedly violating the public health order, the San Diego church was given a cease-and-desist after county warnings that “actions necessary to enforce the orders would be taken,” including fines for each violation.[41]

Exercising our American religious freedom by sinning against our neighbor, our town authorities, and against God breaks this commandment: “Do not use your freedom as a covering for evil. . . . Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor (the authorities God has placed over you).”[42]

In the end, the secular public health department showed more obedience to God’s laws, especially loving their neighbor, by trying to protect human life than the church, which exercised reckless endangerment of life. “There is no partiality with God . . . it is not the hearers of the Law who are just before God, but the doers of the Law will be justified. For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law . . . they show the work of the Law written in their hearts and their conscience bearing witness.”[43]

Biblical Priorities

Some say they have “good” reasons for meeting together during a pandemic. God wants worship above all else, even if it kills people. These reasons maximize their ideas of good, minimize the extreme evil (death), and end in choices that break numerous laws and commands in the Bible. When we dismiss the sanctity of life for our religion, Jesus makes it very clear that we do not know Him,. “You will say, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we do (a lot of good works)?’ But I will say I never knew you. Depart from me you who practice lawlessness,” (Matt 7:21-23). None of the following reasons justify reckless endangerment of life and negligent homicide.

Maximize the Good

  1. It is our tradition.
  2. It is important for relationships.
  3. It is my right for religious freedom.
  4. It is my constitutional right to assemble together.
  5. Christians get lonely and need that contact during a pandemic.
  6. “We want to worship.”
  7. Going to church glorifies God.

Minimize the Evil

  1. The virus will not hurt me.
  2. There is no virus; it is a hoax.
  3. I don’t care if the virus is a problem; I have more important things.
  4. All my friends do not care about this virus, so neither do I.
  5. My politicians say the virus is not important, so don’t worry and do what you want. This is America.
  6. (Don’t talk about death or sickness from this virus.)

These Christians have many “good reasons” for putting themselves and their families into the winds of the deadly pandemic. They maximize the “good” and minimize the evil. They choose the lesser good and unleash the greater evil. Death is not on their radar. For those whose intentional resistance to sound knowledge and understanding of this pandemic leads to the hospitalization or death of their “neighbor,” when they face Jesus, they will say, “I was deceived.” Like Adam and Eve, there will be consequences.

They do not follow God’s priorities in the Bible, beginning with “love your neighbor.” In fact, it goes further:

1 Corinthians 10:24 Let no one seek his own good, but that of his neighbor.

Death is not good. Life is good. Seek to preserve the life of others.

Out of the 216 verses in the Bible supporting truth, here are just three that encompass our lives:

Think truth (Phil 4:8) Speak truth (Eph 4:25). Walk in truth (1 Kgs 4:25).

What about the “good” of using God-given knowledge about viruses, medicine, doctors’ advice, and the global statistics on COVID-19 deaths all based on the biblical discovered through God-given laws of truth? Mental reasoning is a gift of God. We are created in the image of God. God has intelligent reasoning. He gave us intelligent reasoning to use, just like Jesus did in refusing to jump off a high building and put Himself in mortal danger.

When the soldiers came for Jesus, He took everyone He could out of danger: He healed his enemy’s ear. He asked that His disciples be allowed to go free. He protected physical health and life of everyone else around Him!

In the past, He showed great care for people’s physical health. He healed the sick (not made them sick). He raised the dead (not caused death). Can we begin to understand how far from Jesus those are who endanger the lives of others with a deadly disease?

Deception versus truth is a matter of priorities. What is most important? faith, politics, parties, school, jobs, economy, money to live, or human life? Jesus says human life. He gave His life to save life.

Keep the Sabbath

Maybe the Sabbath laws are the most important. Going to church, worshipping God, and meeting together on the Sabbath is the highest priority. “Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy.”[44] Do not neglect assembling together.[45] Some Jews thought keeping the Sabbath was the highest law.[46]

I worked one summer for a Jewish-owned restaurant. My Jewish boss told me this story, “One very cold winter, there was a little child who was close to death, and the family’s house was frigid. It was on the Sabbath when a group of Jews got together and headed to the rabbi’s house to ask how they could help the family. When they arrived, they found the rabbi chopping wood for the family’s house in order to warm the child.”

Save Human Life

My Jewish boss got it! Love God. Love your neighbor.[47] His conscience told him that love was the greatest law.

As Jesus said, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.”[48] The laws of God were made to build people up; we never tear someone down to keep that law. “Let all things be done for edification.”[49]

If we start endangering someone else’s life in order to keep a biblical law, we have our priorities wrong. Obeying the law by breaking the law is an ethical quagmire that incurs the wrath of God. “I’ll worship God on the Sabbath by endangering my elderly parent’s life” is mixing good with evil and historically brought down the angry judgment of God.

Jesus said, “Which one of you will have a son or an ox fall into a well, and will not immediately pull him out on a Sabbath day?”[50] Human life (even animal life) is a higher priority than Sabbath law; than assembling together to worship God. What mother or doctor leaves a sick child to go the church? The threat to human life or even death far outweighs our personal privileges of obeying the Sabbath law, exercising American or religious freedom, or curing loneliness and having fun.

God does not accept worship that tears others down (such as a reckless endangerment of life). We cannot say we love God and at the same time hurt others. “The one who does not love [others] does not know God, for God is love.” “Love edifies.” [51] Protection edifies. Keeping another from bodily harm shows love. The second greatest law in the Bible is to love our neighbor as we love ourselves.[52] That includes doing our best to protect others from bodily harm–such as spreading a deadly disease.

When “love your neighbor” mutates into “threaten the life of your neighbor and expect God to protect everyone as we worship Him,” we have jumped off the cliff.

Where is wisdom?

Georgia’s largest school district sent kids back to school at the beginning of August 2020. By mid August, they learned the hard way that mixing good (in-person schooling) with evil (a deadly pandemic) was dangerous; 260 employees in tested positive for COVID-19.[53]

They decided to use a thorough investigation of facts and figures by health experts to determine when it would be safe for kids to return to classrooms. The schools will be virtual until experts and proof give the green light. Now they are following the biblical laws for discerning truth and loving the children by protecting them; they are making high quality decisions based on biblical priorities before someone dies.

The government is shoring up those who have lost their jobs with extra money. Churches take food to the needy who can’t get out. This is Christian love while respecting the truth of danger.

Biblical law says that all things should be done for edification, or at least, do no harm.[54] Human life supersedes the Sabbath law, public worship of God, “faith” used to test God, money, in-person schooling, tradition, or sundry other reasons to needlessly endanger human life. Across three continents, we have seen many ways to worship God and glorify Him still keeping others safe. Loving our neighbor (like the Good Samaritan did by valuing human life) blazes forth our love for God and glorifies Him the most.[55]

Our love shows God’s love to the world.

How far away from biblical law is secular law? The Bible highly values human life. Do secular law and courts do the same, especially during a pandemic? How close are biblical and secular law in this area?

I knew the intentional spread of a hazardous virus was reckless endangerment of life, and if someone died, negligent homicide from biblical law and conscience.[58] Simply apply the Golden Rule.[59] If I was weak and at risk, I would not want someone with the virus coming near to me. I don’t want my lungs filling with fluid so I can’t breathe, my other organs failing because of lack of oxygen, my body feeling like I’ve been hit by a train before I fly away.[60] If I live through it, I don’t want residual brain, kidney, or heart damage as studies show happens for months if not years later to many. So I don’t want COVID-19 for myself or for others.

However after writing this paper, I decided to check out state and federal laws. Did anyone follow the biblical principles with secular law?

“A Texas woman [was] arrested and charged with a felony–making a terroristic threat–for claiming to spread COVID-19 intentionally.”[61] The Rossen Law Firm in Ft. Lauderdale went on to say, “If someone knowingly and intentionally infected another to cause death, then attempted murder charges are possible.” Actually in Florida, the perpetrator can still be convicted, even if the victim does not catch the disease.

The Canadian Department of Justice said, “Criminal Code offences of criminal negligence causing death or criminal negligence causing bodily harm could apply [to intentionally spreading COVID-19]. Criminal negligence includes reckless disregard for the lives or safety of other persons.”

On March 24, 2020, U.S. Deputy Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen sent U.S. attorneys and federal law enforcement agencies a memo informing Department of Justice officials that they should consider prosecuting certain ‘purposeful exposure or infection of others with COVID-19’ under terrorism-related statutes.”[62] Federal terrorism convictions can result in life imprisonment or the death penalty. In 1996, the congressional 104th Public Law Act stated, “To deter terrorism, provide justice for victims, provide an effective death penalty.”[63] If any person dies from the intentional spread of a bio-weapon (COVID-19), in Canada it is murder. In the U.S., it is terrorism.

Both biblical law and secular law agree that COVID-19 is a deadly disease and the intentional spread of that virus can be negligent homicide, murder, or terrorism. Yet, little to nothing has been done to stop intentional dissemination of this deadly disease when it occurs. Why?

The pervasive mentality is following the functionality of mob violence. There are so many people, that the perpetrator feels protected among the masses from the law and conscience. Police, courts, and penal facilities are not set up to deal with masses. However, both biblical and secular law prohibit destructive mob action.

Exodus 23:2    “You shall not follow the masses in doing evil.”

Legally, if a person or group intentionally neglects safety and places others in a dangerous situation, risking lives, and someone dies, it is negligent homicide, a form of murder.[56] When a person is negligent and another dies as a result, this is negligent homicide. Yell “fire” in a theatre and someone dies from the stampede, it is negligent homicide. Allow a vicious pet out into the neighborhood and it kills someone, it is negligent homicide.[57] Go to a COVID party for young people in a high-risk area, then come home, and an older parent catches the COVID and dies, it is negligent homicide. Gather the church and someone dies from COVID, the same laws apply before God.

“Negligence” means we knew there was great danger. We knowingly and intentionally entered that danger and someone died as a result.

With millions infected in this pandemic and a passive U.S. federal government, some might get away with murder.

Bottom line: “God sees.”[64] “Fear God.”[65]

This pandemic shows that some in the churches and in the world, are deceived. They cannot recognize or do not acknowledge the viper in the path.

In deception, they choose a lesser good and unleash a deadly evil. Some churches break biblical law after command after precept and wonder why the godless call them hypocrites and burn down their church. Evil repays evil. Evil is the way of the world. The unchristians’ action is not justifiable, but it is understandable. But why is the church blind to her own evil?

Evil (breaking God’s laws) is not the way of our Lord Jesus. Why were the churches in sin defying local authorities who were trying to protect human life from a deadly threat (Rom 13:1-4)? Why were they scaring their neighbors by spreading a deadly plague? Why were they endangering the lives of everyone in their neighborhoods, schools, and towns? Did they really think this glorified God or they could test God or they could control a virus by controlling God? To the contrary, the Bible says, “Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that . . . they may because of your good deeds, as they observe them, glorify God in the day of visitation.”[66] Spreading a life-threatening disease is not a good deed. All good deeds come out of love; the edification of others–not the reckless endangerment of the lives of others. Why? They were deceived.

Some churches say they had “good” reason; reasons that surpassed the sanctity of human life. Did they really think that through? After the seven-year-old boy died from attending church, did they think twice? What did adult Christians think as they lay dying from the COVID virus after strolling the reckless and dangerous path their pastors had set them on? Would they rather see an old person die early, a young child die needlessly, a pastor permanently disabled from this virus so they could “worship” God together? Is endangering the life of our neighbor to worship of God really worship or just age-old deception?

When they started hurting others, they and Jesus parted ways. He still loved them, but He did not walk with them. This is where they shamed, not glorified, God in their communities.

Instead of delivering food or shopping for individuals at high risk in their communities, they terrified them. Against both biblical and secular law, they committed the reckless endangerment of life and sometimes even negligent homicide.

Eve thought eating from the Tree was good. She was deceived. It was evil.

Some churches think assembling, worshiping, keeping tradition is good. When it endangers human life and kills people, they are deceived. It is evil.

When a shepherd leads his sheep into the valley of death and they sicken and die, he has broken every law of God concerning the job of shepherding. “Woe to the shepherds” (Jer 23; Ezek 34; John 10:10-15). When he thinks he is worshipping God by putting his sheep in harm’s way, consider Jesus’ words about taking the life of one of His sheep thinking they are “offering service to God,” (John 16:2-3).

On the other hand, if that shepherd stood in the gap, did everything he could according to the biblical laws of truth to protect his sheep, and he dies, then “Well done, good and faithful servant!” (Matt 25:21).

In Florida, a teenage girl died in July after attending a youth party at her church. In Virginia, congregants resumed Sunday services. As a result, COVID-19 infected 51 confirmed cases and three deaths ensued. In Oregon, a church reopened. Before that date, there were 6 recorded COVID-19 cases in the county. After the reopening, 356 cases were linked to that church. One church in Arizona opened on Mother’s Day for in-person services, but closed again on Father’s Day. Between that time, their pastor caught coronavirus and eventually died from the disease. A Texas pastor died of COVID. A Kentucky pastor died of COVID. An Arkansas pastor died of COVID. For the long list of pastors dying from COVID, google “pastor dies of COVID.” [67] Coronavirus is not a joke, a simple cold, a hoax. It is a deadly virus.

God has given us knowledge, understanding, and wisdom to protect ourselves.
These are gifts from God. We must use them and not test Him. [83]

If churches cannot discern between good and evil to cast off deception during a global pandemic, how will they ever be wise enough, strong enough, brave enough to stand during a global collapse? The biblical principle is that if we are not faithful in little, we will not be faithful in much. If we can’t get it right in little things, we won’t get it right in big things.[68]

In other words, churches that endanger people’s lives thinking they are glorifying God, are like those who think sin pleases God.[69] We cannot threaten the life of our fellow Christian, a neighbor, or even a stranger and think we know God.[70]

            The simple truth is:

  • COVID-19 is a deadly disease that strikes young and old.
  • Christian love tries to protect others from serious bodily harm or at least does no harm, just like Jesus always did.
  • Loving our neighbor shows our love for God.
  • Do what it takes to keep your family, church, and community safe above all else. If anyone does not take care of his family . . . he is worse than an unbeliever, (1 Tim5:8).
  • Science provides the truth about this virus, where it is going, and what we can do to protect ourselves.
  • More than 900 healthcare workers have died trying to save people from COVID-19. Working with the public, 400 teachers and over 100 law enforcement people have died from COVID-19. 32,000 food system workers have caught COVID-19 with 109 deaths. [70A]
  • Trust the Bible. Trust science. They synergize to bring us out of this crisis. Love and truth together empower us to reach safety.
  • Every other need or desire requires wisdom to mitigate the damage.
  • Finally, as the days darken, “Let your light shine” for Jesus, so nonchristians will “glorify God in the day of visitation.”[71]
Thank you teachers for risking your lives to teach others.
396 educators have died of COVID-19 up to August 6, 2020. [85]
Thank you law enforcement people for risking your lives to protect us.
Over 100 police officers have died from the COVID-19 pandemic. [86]

If the United States of America had followed both scientific truths illuminating understanding of the coronavirus and the Bible’s love for our neighbor trying to keep everyone safe from the beginning, this country would have stopped COVID-19 at the gate. Now it runs wild unleashing a devastating toll in human life wherever it goes; thousands die every week in our country from this plague.

The COVID-19 pandemic, which mildly shakes global societies killing hundreds of thousands, is only a foretaste of the coming global collapse that will kill millions and severely dismantle all societies in all nations.[72] The same pattern that darkens thinking in deception during a global pandemic will bring us down during the global collapse.

But for those who love God, each time we do the right thing according to God’s laws in the Bible during a little crisis, we become stronger in character and wiser in preparation for the future catastrophic crises coming across our horizon bringing the global collapse of civilization. We see clearer. We act wiser. We get stronger. We lift up friend and stranger to come along with us like Jesus did.

Therefore, let us understand the power of truth and the poison of deception: the rules and dynamics that govern each; the effect of each on the probability of human survival in this physical world; the forces of each in the spiritual world; and the will of God for each one to wield the sword of truth and vanquish the destruction of deception in Christian love.

A global pandemic is only the beginning.
Jesus forewarned of global collapse and said,
“You must be ready,” (Matt 24:37, 44) [87]

                [2] Gen 3:13.

[3] God created the tree and placed it in the middle of the Garden. While the Bible does not explicitly tell us why He did this, other Scripture puts pieces in this puzzle. God’s ultimate goal was the defeat of Satan. Knowing Satan’s primary strategy is always deception, and that deception requires darkness and hiding, God created the opportunity to allow Satan to accomplish his plan, but in a way that would eventually lead to his downfall. God put this opportunity in the middle of the Garden, out in the light. It was the tree. It could not be hidden, lied about, or used to compound more deception. Satan forgot this and used the tree. He must have thought when he saw that tree, “This is just too easy!” Then the viper followed his nature and deceived Eve. Through the Bible, the whole world has been enlightened via that tree to how Satan works, and thus, this knowledge becomes a mighty weapon of light against him. BV

So what you say with your mouth is forming your world. . . . Bible and Science Merge

Chapter 1 – Overview

Revelation is happening now.

Global warming, a pandemic, Arctic heatwaves, 500 ocean dead zones, locusts in 5 countries . . . the Bible and science agree; global collapse is coming.

The last book in the Bible, Jesus’ Revelation, is centered on His second coming to earth (Rev 1:7). Surrounding that advent are circumstances gradually leading up to the collapse of global civilization (the worst-case scenario of global warming, all the cities of the nations fall, the governments of men disintegrate, widespread famine, conflicts, disease, fires, and extreme weather perturb the peoples (Rev 6:12-17; 8; 16:19). These prophecies are echoed by top leaders from U.S. security agencies and armed forces as they study scientific evidence pouring in from around the world on climate change, increasing world population, and threats to life-sustaining resources all careening toward a critical threshold where the planet transitions into a new state more hostile to life.

Your first reaction is probably denial. I don’t blame you. I took years avoiding catastrophic verses (like all the cities of the nations would fall in Revelation) with “not me . . . not now . . . no how!” However, Jesus said to followers that His coming was going to like the days of Noah (Matt 24:37-44)–global collapse–and so like Noah, we must be ready, even if the rest of the world is not.

The 2020 world around us is careening toward catastrophic change: increasing death tolls from the covid-19 pandemic, Arctic Circle temperatures soaring in places over 100°F (30 to 40 degrees above normal), melting permafrost releasing a greenhouse gas (CH4) far stronger than CO2 that can cross a critical threshold into runaway global warming, NASA Satellites taking photos of raging record-breaking fires across continents, 50% of the Arctic ice has melted in 40 years, 90% of the big fish in the oceans are gone, massive outbreak of locusts swarms (which spraying and killing 45 billion of the little beasts did not stop) across East Africa and West Asia devouring crops in five countries and placing 20 million people in famine, . . . The diseases, fires, plagues, global warming is all in Jesus’ Revelation. The Bible and science agree, the maelstrom is coming across the horizon.

It is past time to start building our arks. Both Jesus and scientists say a global storm like never before is coming. I want to convince you through the Bible and science (the study of God’s creation on this planet) that Revelation is happening today; that scientists across nations are terrified for good reason. It may not peak until the lives of our kids or grandkids, but we need that time to shift paradigms, to build our families and churches with a whole new perspective in a whole new purpose–not one of comfort, wealth, and entertainment, but of survival physically, spiritually, and emotionally as vicious feedback cycles of disintegrating, interrelated systems careen our planet on a collision course with global collapse.

There are several ways this book can be read. The first (and most comprehensive) way is one chapter at a time like a normal book. The other way is to choose a section to peruse. The first section lays a biblical foundation to understand accurate interpretation of the Bible, and then the greater context of why and how global collapse will happen from a theological study of what God has said. That is chapters 1 through 8. The next section (chapters 9-13) will delve into the science that is currently fulfilling the prophecies. Chapter 14 will summarize this huge global system in a few charts. The last chapter (15) will help you to pick up the hammer and start building your “ark.” How do we get ready for global catastrophe and hopefully decrease the suffering of our families, friends, and churches?

Let’s start with a table of contents (also found in the three-dot menu at the top and at the bottom of each post/chapter), then end with a sample of what the Bible and science are talking about.

“Behold, the Lord lays the earth waste,” (Isa 24; Rev 6:12-17).

Dear Friend,

It is time to bring Revelation into the 21st century. Prophecies in the Bible are roaring across the horizon of humanity and even unbelievers across the nations are sounding alarms.

In depth knowledge of these breaking events and research from the Bible often correlated with current international science, is presented in this website. Revelation is now – we must be ready!

Sidebar: There is good science and bad science, just like there is good theology and bad theology. The only way to achieve “good” is to follow the biblical laws for the discovery of truth–which, by the way, are the foundation of good science (c.f. chapter 3). Theologians and scientists who do not follow these laws of God end in error. Those who do, greatly increase their power to understand reality.

Jesus said in the Bible, “You must be ready,” (Matt 22:42). The Bible is God’s only word to humankind. It is the highest and final authority about and over whatever it speaks. God is universally sovereign, even over climate change. Good science is the accurate study of God’s creation, including climate change. Today, science is echoing biblical prophecies with terrifying predictions.[1]

“For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah, . . . You also must be ready,” (Matt 24:37, 44). Noah was awake and took action to be ready for the coming global judgment–the collapse of civilization. It took him one hundred years to get ready. Jesus gave him as our example. Since he started long before he saw the approaching darkness, and we can now see storm clouds rising on the horizon, time is short. “When you see all these things, recognize that He is near,” (Matt 24:33).

I include below an abbreviated sample from one post on how Bible prophecy and science predictions are emerging and merging before the world today.

The Second Trumpet and Second Bowl: The Death of the Oceans

Revelation 8:8-9 and 16:3

The second trumpet in the last book of the Bible, Revelation, sounds the death of one-third of the creatures in the seas. The second bowl pours out death on all of the creatures in the seas. Revelation is global. According to this context, the word “seas” in the New Testament represents every ocean on the planet. The transition from the death of a third to all living creatures in the oceans reveals a process taking place over time. Sometimes God’s judgment was immediate (Sodom). Many times God’s judgment took years (the droughts during the days of Joseph and Elijah) as He showed mercy giving widespread knowledge of coming catastrophes and time to repent and to prepare. Revelation gave us time. That time is coming to a close; for the first time in history, every general and specific prophecy of His coming has a high probability of fulfillment in this century, including the gospel being preached to all the nations before the second coming of Jesus (Matt 24:14).

Death in the Oceans According to Revelation and Science

Revelation says that a third progressing to all the sea creatures in the oceans will die. In 1950, there were 45 dead zones in the oceans around the world; zones so devoid of oxygen or so toxic that fish could not survive. Research in 2008 counted 405 dead zones in oceans around the world and this number is growing.[2] As of 2018, Britain’s top newspaper, The Guardian, reported “at least 500 dead zones have now been reported near coasts” around the world.[3] Professor Robert Diaz at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science emphasizes not only “the increasing expansion of coastal dead zones [but the] decline in open ocean oxygen” that will lead to “severe and persistent mortality of fisheries.”[4]

The oceans’ fisheries (large populations of different species of fish) are dying from rising temperatures, anoxia, pollution, overfishing, and plagues due to tropic cascades (i.e. kill off predators–like the harvest of 274,000 sharks every day–and a plague of jellyfish destroys fisheries).

“In 2003, a scientific report estimated that industrial fishing had reduced the number of large ocean fish to just 10 percent of their preindustrial population.”[5] Ninety percent of the large fish in the oceans are gone. Regarding all the fish, large and small in the oceans: 53% of the world’s fisheries are fully exploited, 32% are overexploited or depleted, and the top ten marine fisheries (30% of the fish) are fully or overexploited.[6] “The global fishing fleet is 2.5 times larger than what the oceans can sustainably support–meaning that humans take far more fish from the ocean than can be replaced naturally.”[7] “Led by the sushi market in Japan, the global demand for succulent tuna meat has driven stocks of the once ubiquitous species to the brink of collapse. Fisheries in the Mediterranean . . . are in particular peril, with some studies showing highly prized blue fin tuna near extinction there.”[8] The Atlantic cod and California’s sardines were harvested to the brink of extinction by the mid-1900s. The Peruvian anchovy fisheries crashed in the 1970s. The cod fishery off Newfoundland collapsed in the 1990s. The sole fisheries in the Irish Sea and English Channel are close to shutting down. Pacific herring is down 71% and Atlantic herring down 63%. By 1989, 90 million tonnes per year of catch were being taken from the oceans crossing the peak of production. “Unless the current situation improves, stocks of all species currently fished for food are predicted to collapse by 2048.”[9] The World Health Organization states that one billion people on the planet depend on fish as their primary protein source.

We can hear the second trumpet loudly sounding. We can see the second bowl slowly pouring. They are indicative of all first four trumpets and bowls in Revelation heralding the disintegration of our planet’s lands, oceans, terrestrial waters, and skies–a vicious, complex feedback system revealed through science–in preparation for the eventual collapse of civilization; a state so severe that nations will clamor for one man to unite them, to control the chaos, to bring back peace and prosperity. He will have forty-two months (Rev 13:5). The world will worship him for his accomplishments, but he will do so at an unconscionable price (2 Thess 2:1-4). The good news is that after this man of lawlessness unifies the nations, the Lord Jesus will come back to earth. These are the signs of His return. Jesus said,

“You must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming,” (Matt 24:44).

This site is about the coming downfall of global civilization according to Revelation’s first four trumpets, bowls, and seals and other scriptures. Like the days of Noah, this catastrophe will be global (Matt 24:37-39, 44). I will lay a foundation of biblical and scientific knowledge for you to see how serious and urgent it is for us to shift paradigms; we must stop dancing on the Titanic and start building our arks.

Second Coming of Jesus

Chapter 2 – Revelation in the 21st Century

Discern the Signs of the Time

Melting Glaciers from Global Warming. People all over the world will be “scorched with fierce heat,” (Rev 16:9). Above the Arctic Circle, Verkhoyansk, Siberia was 40 degrees above normal at 100.4 degrees F on June 20, 2020. Permafrost, glaciers, and ice are melting. [14]
“Global Pandemic” (COVID-19 seen by electron microscope) Credit: NIAID_RML [14]
A president who denies the gravity of both global warming and a pandemic fulfills prophecies: “For the coming of the Son of Man shall be just like the days of Noah [global collapse of civilization] . . . and they did not understand . . . ; so will the coming of the Son of Man be,” (Matt 24:37-39). [14]
Jesus said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and discerning and have revealed them to infants.” When you see these things, know (discern) that He is coming soon. (Matt 11:25; 24:33) [14]

When does Revelation happen? Four chronological views hold some truth. The fifth, the polychronic view, captures the whole truth proving Revelation is now!

Chronological Views of Revelation

The theme of Revelation is the second coming of Jesus Christ (Rev 1:7). When does He come back? Before answering that question, when does Revelation take place? Four chronological views predominate. The modified prederists believe all of Revelation took place in the first century, except for the last few chapters starting with chapter 19 about the second coming of Jesus Christ. R.C. Sproul was a proponent. The historicists believe that all of Revelation took place in the last two millennia documenting the history of the church, except for the last few chapters. Oral Collins was a proponent. The futurists view everything in Revelation as in the future surrounding the second coming of Jesus Christ, except for the first few chapters. The classical and progressive dispensationalists (out of Dallas Theological Seminary) are proponents. The idealists do not see Revelation in literal time for it is symbolic of the struggle between good and evil. Everyone can see that struggle. There is a fifth chronological view.

I personally believe in a polychronic (many-times)view, a term I coined to mean God works across time and blesses anyone at any time who reads Revelation finding partial fulfillments. Nevertheless, the truest meaning will only surface when every detail of every prophecy begins the final countdown for complete fulfillment in reality. One hundred percent completion of all details is indispensable for recognizing the true advent of the events surrounding the Lord’s second coming. For the first time in history, total fulfillment of all prophecies surrounding the second coming of Jesus Christ is not only possible, but probable.

As the living word of God, the Holy Spirit is able to apply certain verses in Revelation to many peoples across many times in a limited fulfillment of certain verses that apply to them. Armies of angels found in Revelation do not sit idle for centuries, but are mobilized from time to time to create great prosperity or to inflict God’s judgment through wars, droughts, or oppression as He forewarned in Deuteronomy 28. God builds up (blesses), or He tears down (curses) based on obedience to His beautiful, edifying laws including loving Him with all our hearts, minds, souls, and strength. Massive armies of angels interact with humankind to fulfill God’s will just as the biblical prophets in the OT and Revelation in the NT repeatedly portray.

Polychronic is not postmodern philosophy where anyone can believe anything and it will be “true” since “truth” is only perception. A person cannot assign meanings to verses in Revelation based on frail threads of conjecture between an historic event and a verse, such as, the second horse in Revelation’s four horsemen and the Communist flag are both red, so the red horse is Communism.[1] A polychronic interpretation is based on biblical laws of truth and sound rules of hermeneutics and guided by the Holy Spirit to help the believer through difficult times previously foreshadowed in Revelation.

There is some truth in the views of the prederist, the historicist, the futurist, and the idealist. The Reformers saw the popes as one or more antichrists/beasts of Revelation. Under popes’ authority, countless thousands were condemned to die outside of biblical law during in the Spanish Inquisition. Christians during World War II saw Hitler as an antichrist. John says, “Many antichrists have appeared.” “Blessed is he who reads     . . . and heeds the things which are written in (Revelation), for the time is near.”[2] The time was near to everyone in some way; blessed everyone in some way. “For the word of God is living and active.” “Living” is flexible, dynamic, and ever relevant.[3] However, these interpretations are limited in scope and time by the Holy Spirit and incomplete in explaining all the facts and prophecies in Revelation. For example, the end time Antichrist/beast will have “authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation.”[4] Neither popes nor Hitler ever had global authority.

The whole fulfillment of every word, of every prophecy in Revelation, centers on the theme of Revelation: “Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him.”[5] Total fulfillment of the true finality of Revelation surrounds the visible second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.[6] Revelation is global in context.[7] Fulfillment of prophecies heralding His second coming includes the gospel preached to every nation, a third of the creatures in the oceans dying, a third of global forests burning, a third of the global terrestrial waters killing masses of people, a third of the global atmosphere darkened, conquests, wars, famines, and massive death in populations.[8]  Most of these prophecies are revving up now and are within a few decades of completion. The rest will be natural consequences of dynamics in motion today, such as when populations lose drinking water tensions arise. Water stress has historically led to hostilities (mortalities, migrations, conquests, wars) between cities and countries.

One might say that we are back to the futurist view. To a limited extent, that is true. However, futurism is so laden with church-created beliefs, concepts, and interpretations–some accurate, some not–that I prefer to emphasize the hermeneutic for discerning the polychronic chronology; a literal hermeneutic wherein “every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” is important.[9] The literalist interpreter concludes with an interpretation different from the other chronological views, because its final interpretation can be seen when every prophecy in every detail has begun their final fulfillment. The beginning of that complete and final fulfillment of Revelation surrounding the second coming can be observed today. Prophecy says that “a third of the creatures which were in the sea and had life, died,” and this is happening today (Rev 8:9). Scientists calculate that 90% of the big fish are gone, 53% of all fisheries are fully exploited, and fishing fleets are 2.5 times greater than what oceans can sustain. Prophecy is being fulfilled before our eyes. The oceans are free-falling toward a one hundred percent mortality of all living sea creatures (Rev 16:3), which scientists estimate–according to sizes of schools, rates of decline, overfishing, and growing marine toxicity and pollution–may happen as early as 2048.

The Bible and Science Agree on Earth’ Worsening State

A literal reading of biblical text (including rightly discerning between concrete and abstract concepts) can see some prophecies in Revelation in full swing today. When thoroughly investigated according to every fact in Scripture on the subject; when setting aside excessive assumptions, labyrinthine doctrines from authorities in high places so convoluted and confusing that no layperson could find them in the Bible on their own, especially when pressured by popular opinion, power,  and prestige; then with childlike simplicity believing the face value reading of God’s word on the topic,  truth shines brightly.[10] God says it clearly. We believe it simply. God says the oceans’ fish will die. Scientists say the oceans’ fish are dying. Jesus says, Be ready!” Prophecy is being fulfilled before our eyes.

I will be struggling to influence the thinking of an elder who mocked me because I taught science. I will be challenging the thinking of one the smartest people I have ever had the privilege of knowing with surpassing character in kindness and caring, because she believes the Bible is out of date and irrelevant. If you don’t trust science (the study of God’s creation), then trust the Bible. If you don’t trust the Bible (the gift of God’s words to humanity), trust science. Both nature and Scripture are God’s creations (all truth is God’s truth) and they are in accord. Only by understanding how and why both are synergizing toward the global collapse of civilization surpassing anything that has ever or will ever happen on this planet in terms of human suffering, can we understand how to get ready. As it is, the elder thinks being saved in Jesus is enough preparation. He is wrong. He is like a Noah who “believes” God but won’t pick up a hammer. My friend thinks going green is enough. She is wrong. She has a hammer, but not the blueprint.

To put it another way, like the man who knows the tail and the woman who knows the trunk, neither sees or understands the Himalayan mammoth stampeding toward everyone on this planet. When biblical prophecies and scientific predictions are integrated, they portray a global cataclysm with terrifying accuracy, or as NASA’s James Hansen wrote, “The Coming Climate Catastrophe.” [11]

Many scientists are deeply concerned and trust in humanism. Many Christians are deeply complacent and trust in presidents. None of these can save them.[12] The “flood” is on the horizon, who is building their ark?

There are bright lights of exceptions where some actively and publicly proclaim faith in Jesus and intelligently study God’s creation through science. One is Dr. Katharine Hayhoe; outspoken born again, evangelical Christian, lecturer, professor and director of the Climate Science Center at Texas Tech University.

Dr. Katharine Hayhoe “invites the Church and the World to see the harmony between science and biblical faith [15]

While this website only focuses on the global breakdown of systems sustaining life-giving resources  (in land, oceans, terrestrial waters, and atmosphere according to the first four trumpets and bowls in Revelation corroborated by science) in the face of growing population (12 to 20 billion by 2100), international math and sciences are sophisticated enough to estimate an approximate time period for the collapse of civilization (Rev 6:15; Isa 24). The countdown to our Lord’s return has begun and can even be estimated–not, of course, the day or the hour (Matt 25:13)–but perhaps which generation will see these things (estimates improve with incoming updates of data). Even NASA scientists and top-level U.S. national security leaders can estimate the coming global catastrophe.[13] “When you see these things happening, recognize that He is near, right at the door. Truly I say to you, this generation [that sees these things] will not pass away until all these things take place,” (Matt 24:33-34).

Revelation in the 21st Century

It is time to bring Revelation into the 21st century. Prophecies are being fulfilled before our eyes. The global implications are catastrophic–just as the Bible said they would be and scientists say they will be (if humans don’t change, and the Bible says they won’t). On June 22, 2020, NBC News reported that the massive plague of locusts across East Africa and West Asia was not touched by killing 450 billion insects with spraying by various governments. The skies still darken. The crops are devoured. Twenty million people are already suffering in hunger. The U.N. Security Council described it as a hunger pandemic that could lead to 300,000 deaths a day from starvation.

The New York Times database reported on the coronavirus pandemic (7/17/20) for the U.S.: 3,588,000 cases, 138,268 dead, 947 died yesterday, and the numbers are resurging in 42 states. The Washington Post reported 70,000 new cases a day. (That was last week, now it’s 76,000 a day.)

CBS, CNN, and UPI News all report that cities in the Arctic are recording their hottest temperatures ever –over 100˚F. Massive wild fires are spreading across northern Siberia and Russia. As permafrost melts, methane gas is released into the atmosphere–a greenhouse gas 23 times stronger than carbon dioxide, which is the time bomb that could reach a critical threshold (the tipping point) and take the world into runaway global warming. These scientific observations herald Jesus’ prophecies in Revelation (the 1st and 4th trumpets and bowls, and the 3rd and 4th seals).

The timing of the second coming is no longer pointing to some amorphous future–whether distant or imminent, totally in the dark. The timing can be calculated within a few decades, a generation! The signs setting the stage for the second coming of Jesus are visibly emerging at a breakneck pace.

From a literal interpretation of Revelation shining light on scientific discoveries pouring in from the top scientists at the highest facilities in nations all over the world (including the U.S., despite contrary politics), evidence about the land, the oceans, the terrestrial waters, and the atmosphere–the entire global system–is supporting biblical prophecies surrounding Jesus’ second advent to earth. Biblical prophecies and scientific predictions are emerging and merging like never before.

This blog will examine how far along we are toward the complete fulfillment of the prophecies on God’s judgment causing the deterioration of earth’s life-sustaining resources (in and on land, oceans, waters, and skies according to trumpets and bowls) and culminating in the global collapse of civilization–the precursor to the world’s acceptance of the man of lawlessness who will unite the nations to “save the planet” while destroying it. When he has done his worst, and humankind has suffered the consequences of our choices, then Jesus will return. The two most powerful men on the planet will then lock horns, send the world careening into the greatest all-time global war, and topple every government on the planet to determine who will rule.

Dynamics of Global Collapse

Chapter 8 – The First Four Trumpets, Bowls, and Seals in Revelation

This vicious cycle will cause the fall of earth’s civilization.

Revelation 8:7-12; 16:1-10; 61-8

Forest fires destroy trees (a carbon sink) and emit smoke (a carbon source) which increase global warming (heat) which increases the strength, length, and breadth of forest fires, which increases global warming (heat) . . . . See the feedback cycle getting stronger and stronger? [9]
Global warming (like hitting into the 90’s to 100’s degree F above the Arctic Circle in 2020) causes Arctic ice (which is white and reflects heat) to melt leaving more ocean water (which is dark and absorbs heat) thus warming the Arctic Pole 2xs faster than anywhere else on earth (except the South Pole which is 3xs faster) causing more global warming which melts more ice . . . . See the feedback cycle getting stronger and stronger? [9]
Global warming causes Arctic ice to melt on land with permafrost (containing methane) and sea (containing methane hydrates) releasing the methane into gas which is 23xs stronger than carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas. More methane in the atmosphere increases global warming which melts more ice . . . . See the feedback cycle getting stronger and stronger? [9]

Understanding context and patterns in the trumpets, bowls, and seals reveals Revelation’s dynamics for the global collapse of civilization.

Revelation is global (all tribes, peoples, tongues, nations).[1] The theme of Revelation is the second coming of Jesus Christ (Rev 1:7) and how that affects everyone on the planet. The context is what happens directly before, during, and after Jesus’ return to earth. Therefore, the first four (4) seals, trumpets, and bowls all refer to global situations or events surrounding His second coming. Once the biblical linguistics is understood, the biblical dynamics of global collapse can be illuminated.

In the global context of Revelation’s trumpets and bowls, the word “sea” refers to all the “oceans.”[2] The word “springs” (underground water) refers to all the aquifers and water tables. The word “rivers” (above-ground water) includes lakes and streams. “Trees” refers to all the forests and orchards on earth. “Grass” refers to all the prairies, meadows, savannah, grazing lands, and tundra. “Sea creatures” refers to all the fish, crustaceans, and mammals in the oceans. “Sun scorching men” refers to global warming affecting everyone under the sun.

Syntax–the study of patterns of formation in sentences and phrases–in the first four (4) of the trumpets, the bowls, and the seals is extremely consistent and thus, critical for understanding and indispensable for accurate interpretation. Understanding the context and patterns reveals Revelation’s dynamics for the global collapse of civilization surrounding the second coming of Jesus. [3]

The simplified pattern is this: Each of the seven trumpets or bowls or seals ALWAYS starts with symbolic (metaphorical) language representing the literal power of the spiritual world of heaven above “throwing down” judgment to earth below and ALWAYS ends with mostly literal language representing the consequences of God’s judgment coming upon the physical earth. The beginning (Part A) is spiritual (invisible)—coming from the heavenly realm. It is metaphorical of God’s power. The ending (Part B) is physical (visible)—what happens on earth. It is literal portraying what will happen on earth. That pattern does not change across the first four trumpets, first four bowls, and first four seals.

Here is the nutshell of how to determine which words are figurative (symbolic, metaphorical) and which words are literal (concrete, tangible reality) in apocalyptic literature such as Revelation. Take everything literally, except: Anything that breaks major hermeneutical rules (sublaws of truth); anything that contradicts Scripture (i.e. God is a bird—Scripture says He is literally spirit, omnipresent, creator of the universe, . . . birds don’t qualify etc.), and anything that would be absurd–if taken literally—(like God has wings, thus, He is a bird). “Wings” is metaphorical. Reference to hiding under His “wings” is metaphorical for His protection just as a mother bird protects her chicks.

“Hide me in the shadow of Your wings,” Psalm 17:8. Jesus “saw the heavens opening, and the Spirit descending like a dove upon Him, ” Mark 1:10.

Blood was thrown down from heaven to earth (1st  trumpet) and the sun was struck (4th trumpet) both occur in the first half of each trumpet’s passage; they are absurd images. Clouds do not drip literal blood all over the earth (Revelation is global). Striking (defined by OT meanings as a mortal attack, Exod 12:12) the sun would lead to a solar-system annihilation. If taken literally, blood-from-heaven and striking-the-sun would be absurd. OT studies show these two phrases symbolically represent the wrath/judgment/power of God coming down on sinful humankind. Jesus’ says, “Fear God    . . . because the hour of His judgment has come” on the earth (Rev 14:7). The symbolic interpretation of the blood and sun passages in these two trumpets fit OT meanings for symbolic words and the context of the book of Revelation. The literal-absurdity hermeneutic rule proves that the first half of each trumpet is metaphorical.

We can reasonably assume that the pattern for Part A is consistent across the trumpets. However, let’s take one more example. The great flaming mountain thrown to earth (2nd trumpet, Rev 8:8) is either metaphorical or a global-killer asteroid. Since Revelation does not wipe all advanced life off the planet or talk of a global winter, a literal interpretation is absurd. In Revelation 8:8-9, Part A of the passage is symbolic and Part B is literal as in all of the first 4 trumpets.

“The second angel sounded [his trumpet], and something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood, and a third of the creatures which were in the sea and had life died, and a third of the ships were destroyed” (Revelation 8:8-9).

How do we know an asteroid the size of a mountain would be a global killer? The Chicxulub Crater on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico was caused by such a flaming mountain.

Image from NASA’s Shuttle Radar revealing a ring of cenotes (sinkholes usually filled with water) showing outline of the Chicxulub Crater. [8]

Here is what scientists discovered (does this sound anything like Revelation?): The asteroid had a 6 to 50 mile diameter (about the size of Mt. Everest). It hit Mexico at 45,000 m.p.h. with the force of 100 trillion tons of TNT (more than a billion times the energy of the atomic bombs that hit Hiroshima and Nagasaki). Ground zero superheated to 16,000°F; melted rock; sent out 2,000 m.p.h. shockwaves; created 300’ megatsunamis, megaquakes, and volcanic eruptions around the globe; catapulted 70 billion tons of soot into the atmosphere around the world (found by scientists in layers of mountains on the other side of the world); hurled 500 billion tons of debris into the air; caused a global firestorm from superheating the atmosphere; ignited the after-splash of debris exploding back into the sky after the impact and then–falling back down to earth–set fields and forests aflame around the planet. When global fires stopped, then came years of volcanic winters because of all the soot and high concentrations of SO2 in the atmosphere. (Revelation does not talk about a rapid-cooling earth or global winters). Within a few years, the volcanic gas of SO2 dropped out of the sky as acid rain (killing plants and poisoning terrestrial waters, fish, etc. with sulfuric acid). However, the gaseous volcanic CO2  (a greenhouse gas) remained in the atmosphere for centuries and as soon as SO2 was out of earth’s skies (SO2 shields and cools earth), the CO2 shot the global temperature up by 10˚F. That’s global warming by 10˚F!!!  The global food chain was shattered (first by global winter then by a global furnace). There was a 70% extinction rate of plants and larger animals that included the death of larger animals such as all the dinosaurs.  (Paleologists found no more dinosaur bones in layers of earth above the layer displaying the Chicxulub impact causing a global cataclysm.)  Remember, this paper is talking about Revelation’s collapse of civilization accompanied by global heat—men “scorched” but still alive and complaining about it (Rev 16:8-9)—not a global furnace incinerating or starving everyone. Larger animals (including Homosapiens) would not survive a global winter followed by a 10˚F rise of global warming.

Metaphorical is reasonable. The fiery mountain thrown down from heaven is God’s judgment in many ways (Rev 4:7). Global extinction is not.

A great star from heaven (not an anachronistic missile from one place on earth to another, but “from heaven”) in the 3rd trumpet, is also not literal; stars do not literally fall to earth.

The first phrase (Part A) in the four trumpets always starts from the spiritual realm of heaven metaphorically declaring the great power of God being thrown down to earth to execute His judgment on (Part B) the literal physical earth (Rev 18:10).

More Consistent Patterns across the Seals, Trumpets, and Bowls

Linguistic patterns are important for accurate interpretation.

In the chart below, note the consistent structure of the trumpets and bowls: The first in both the trumpet and the bowl is land. The second in both is sea. The third in both is waters. The fourth in both is skies. This structure is important: the first trumpet progresses to the first bowl; the second trumpet to the second bowl; the third to the third; and the fourth to the fourth. Land (1st trumpet) is tied to land (1st bowl); seas (2nd trumpet) to sea (2nd bowl); waters to waters; skies to skies. Each trumpet is connected to its respective bowl. This pattern manifests progressive interaction and growth between a trumpet and its respective bowl (second trumpet to second bowl).

However, science also reveals that land, oceans, waters, and skies are a complex interactive system. So there is direct interaction between the 2nd trumpet and the 2nd bowl, but there is also interaction between the 2nd trumpet and the other trumpets and the other bowls.

The bowls are not separated from the trumpets. The bowls, to a limited extent, follow the trumpets but also interact with the trumpets in a feedback system. One third death in the seas (2nd trumpet) is followed by everything dead in the seas (2nd bowl). However, mankind scorched with heat and with fire (4th bowl) influences the burning of a third of the earth (1st trumpet). The numbering of first through fourth does not signify sequential order in the chronology of events; it is there to link the trumpet and bowls together.

Here is what the structure shows that the trumpets and bowls do. For clarity, start with the second trumpet and the second bowl. In the second trumpet, 1/3 of the fish in the oceans die. In the second bowl, all of the fish in the oceans die. This shows progress–from bad to worse. This shows an interrelationship between the 2nd trumpet and the 2nd  bowl.

The Dynamics of Global Collapse

Earth’s lands, oceans, waters, and skies along with population growth and limited resources, are in a complex web of interaction, some of which are in states of destructive disintegration worsening the ecosystem of the planet heading into global collapse. In other words, everything affects everything for either good or ill, and right now, the planet is getting sicker (more aversive to life).

In reality elucidated by science and the Bible; the land, seas, waters, and skies are in a complex system that has over a dozen feedback cycles that–occurring today–gradually worsen the condition of the planet, decrease life-sustaining resources, and eventually lead to global collapse. Forty billion tons of the greenhouse gas CO2 are pumped into our atmosphere every year from human emissions (changing the state of our atmosphere as found in the 4th trumpet and 4th bowl). (1)The warmer the skies, the more ice at the poles melts, the less reflection of heat by ice (white) from the sun, the more the dark (ice-free) waters of the ocean absorbs the heat, the warmer it gets. (2) The warmer it gets the more frequent, intense, and extended are forest fires. The more trees that burn (increasing a carbon source and decreasing a carbon sink) the more carbon dioxide (CO2) goes into the atmosphere, thus, the warmer it gets, causing more forest fires. They are linked, interactive, and feedback.

These feedback cycles are not the worst. (3) The real bad boy is methane (CH4). There are 1.4 trillion tons of CH4–a greenhouse gas at least 23 times stronger than CO2–located in the Arctic permafrost, which is melting across Alaska, Siberia, and the rest of the Arctic Circle today releasing CH4! Areas in the Arctic that used to have permafrost year around are hitting temperatures over 100°F in the summer of 2020—temperatures not expected until 2100. So, the warmer the atmosphere, the more permafrost that melts, the more CH4 is released into the atmosphere, the warmer it gets.. Today, that cycle stops in winter. But sometimes, mid-winter temperatures soar above freezing in the Arctic and CH4 is released! As it gets warmer, more days in winter (much less summer) will soar. The day will come when a critical threshold is passed that will release CH4 year around speeding up atmospheric warming until nothing can stop it. Scientists call this “runaway global warming.” It is this critical threshold (tipping point, hockey stick change from linear to nonlinear rapid rising) that pushes global warming off the charts.

It may be that this change of state from gradual to catastrophic warming (crossing the tipping point or critical threshold) all over the planet occurs when the first four trumpets transition into the first four bowls (when 33% of the sea life dying over decades suddenly transitions to kill 100% of the sea life in a few years: the second trumpet leading into the second bowl). Or more likely, interactive systems between land, oceans, waters, and skies spiral together in a vicious feedback with ever worsening conditions. When God’s wrath is poured out in the bowls, earth’s geo- and ecosystems will go over the cliff in catastrophic disaster–the Euphrates dies up, armies march to Armageddon (Har-Magedon)–and everything spiraling and synergizing together causes the collapse of civilization (and eventually, the end of the Antichrist’s global rule and the beginning of Christ’s global reign).[3]

This is what God has done in the past–the removal of life resources until sin-filled men are on their knees turning back to Him. Except this time, all the nations of earth will rage against the Son of God who has returned and is back in Jerusalem.[4] This rejection of His Son calls out the wrath of the Father, which will remove or diminish multiple life resources through the first four trumpets, bowls, and seals (crops, herds, fish, orchards, forests, waters, leading to climate migrations, diseases and plagues, conquests, wars, famines) causing extreme suffering and massive death, until every leader is hiding in caves, every government has disintegrated, and every person on the planet is on their knees before the Son of God.[5]

Consider the destructive cycle involving the first four seals, trumpets, and bowls:

First 4 Seals, Trumpets, and Bowls Comparing Part A (Metaphorical) and Part B (Literal)

Having considered how earth’s land, oceans, terrestrial waters, and skies are an interactive system with feedback loops causing a vicious cycle that warms the planet and decreases life-sustaining resources, let us now look to science in the next four chapters to determine how scientific discoveries and predictions are showing the terrifying fulfillment of these biblical prophecies in Revelation in these four areas as God’s judgment emerges on this planet.

As you peruse the scientific evidence supporting biblical prophecies in the next chapters, consider the sources. Are they following the biblical laws of truth? In other words, are these sources credible according to God’s standards? These chapters cite studies from experts like NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association), investigative reports in nationally known reputable newspapers, major scientific journals, and an international association of top scientists from major countries (IPCC, the International Panel on Climate Change). Assessing the credibility of witnesses is part of the laws of truth. Are these true scientists: impartial, basing their conclusions on empirical evidence, scientific investigations, highly educated in a relevant field, with peer-reviews (“2 or more eyewitnesses of credible (expert) backgrounds”–biblical laws), objectively seeking the truth of what is happening in reality no matter where it leads or whatever the cost? Or are they a former employee of big oil company fighting off carbon tax by denying global warming? Some oil companies deny global warning while buying/leasing Arctic lands and ocean fronts as they anticipate the melting ice sheets and huge oil or gas reserves buried below! Are the sources prejudice, bias, holding hidden agendas, politically motivated, accepting bribes or jobs from fossil fuel companies paying millions to discredit tens of thousands of top scientists and influence politicians? Are the sources cited? Could you find and verify these sources?

If you are around climate-change deniers, consider their sources and levels of expertise, their motives, their numbers in comparison to every major scientific association across all major nations on the planet warning that global warming is happening and, if it continues, will cause global catastrophe. I have lost count of how many good friends have argued against me citing, “A friend of mine said that an (unnamed) scientist from an (unknown) place said that. . .” or “I know scientists that contradict your scientists” (but they can’t cite one name or institution or association these scientists come from). Some follow conclusions from politicians or “scientists” strongly associated with political institutions, not good science.

NASA wrote an article entitled “Scientific Consensus: Earth’s Climate is Warming ( which includes a graph using data across countries on global temperature rise between 1880 and 2020 is displayed. Among them were the American Medical Association (AMA), American Meteorological Society, U.S. National Academy of Sciences, U.S. Global Change Research Program (a federal agency), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA, a federal agency), Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) with top scientists across major countries), and a lot more.

SIDE BAR: There are two types of thinkers. First type studies all the relevant facts then discovers the conclusion from those facts. This is logic. Second type starts with their conclusion, then picks out facts to support it. The conclusion is usually based on personal gain, power, popularity, price, politics, some other hidden agenda or logical irrelevancy. We either start with the facts and let these facts portray the conclusion, or we start with a conclusion and then pick out facts to create the desired conclusion. The first type of thinking sets truth as the highest priority. The second type of thinking sets something other than truth as the highest priority.

When scientists start with a thorough investigation of the facts and evidence (a biblical law for discerning truth, Deut 13:14; 19:18) through scientific experimentation, they are clear thinkers seeking truth in the physical realm (even if they are unbelievers in the spiritual realm, Rom 2:14-15). When people start with heavy bias or prejudice, opinions, hearsay, speculation, grapevine, conjecture, unsubstantiated sources, irrelevant authorities (like a politician giving medical advice), their thinking is muddied with logical irrelevancies (not associated with actual truth). Logical irrelevancies darken, dampen, damage, or even destroy truth.

IRRELEVANCY: If you wonder what my politics are (am I biased or prejudiced one way or the other), may I be transparent? To the best of my ability, I make decisions issue by issue based on the Bible, not based on a political party. In the preceding presidential elections, I could not vote for anyone who strongly supported positions in opposition to one or more of God’s major commands (laws so heavy that breaking them demanded the death penalty in the OT). Therefore, for my presidential choice, I wrote on my ballot “Jesus Christ of Nazareth.” I know He is coming back one day and will be the King of all kings over all nations. He already has my vote.

Whatever scientists (or politicians) we follow, compare what they say to what God says in the Bible. The top scientists cited in the following chapters are—unbeknownst to them—finding evidence and making predictions in total accord with Jesus’ prophecies in the areas under consideration. When scientists studying creation agree with the Creator’s words about His creation, we have the truth from two valid sources.

Lastly, in the following chapters, only the literal second half (Part B) of each trumpet, bowl, or seal describing what happens on earth will be considered. The first half, Part A, usually describing metaphorically the great power that is thrown down by God from the spiritual heaven, will be omitted. Science only deals with the physical world, as does the second part (Part B) of the first four trumpets, bowls, and seals in Revelation.

Destabilizing Nations

Chapter 13 – Extremes in Revelation and Science

Revelation says that global warming will cause catastrophic climate change wreaking havoc and chaos that will destabilize the nations.

NASA photo of Earth [33]
F5 Joplin Tornado with windspeeds above 200 mph and her aftermath. Category 5 Hurricane Katrina, the 3rd largest in history, with windspeeds of 174 mph and her aftermath. Forest fires increasing in intensity, length of time, coverage of territory, and destructiveness. Future storm surge over city. Extremes will be the new norm. [33]

Extreme events exacerbated by global warming, rising population, resource stress, and international insecurity will lead to global collapse of civilization.

Rev 16:9 Men were scorched with fierce heat. (The context is global.)

Rev 6:14 The sky was split apart like a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

Rev 16:18-21 There were flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder; and there was a great earthquake, such as there had not been since man came to be upon the earth, so great an earthquake was it, and so mighty. The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. (Rome) was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of His fierce wrath. And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. And huge hailstones, about one hundred pounds each, came down from heaven upon men, and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, because its plague was extremely severe.

Today’s science and biblical prophecy are shouting extremes; extreme heat, extreme weather, extreme fires, extreme water problems, extreme atmospheric changes, extreme geophysical changes, . . . extreme will soon be the new norm.

Supercell Split

The scroll in Revelation 6:14 is metaphorical for a supercell split–one mammoth tornado that splits into two–and follows the same dynamics as–looks just like–unrolling a scroll; this is extreme weather! Global warming pours more heat energy into our skies and causes more monstrous, ever-growing storms.

Disappearing islands are a near-future reality with sea rise. For example, the islands of Kiribati, Tuvalu, Maldives, and Marshall Islands are in harm’s way. The Marshallese are left with two choices: evacuate or elevate the land, a very expensive idea that–with 600 billion tons of melting ice pouring into oceans around the world every year, is a temporary solution.

Earthquakes from Glacial Rebound

Stronger earthquakes moving mountains will happen more frequently as “glacial rebound” increases. Glacial rebound results from the shifting weight of continents and continental shelves upon their tectonic plates due to melting billions of tons of glaciers from global warming. (CBS News reported that the towns in the Arctic Circle recorded temperatures above 100°F on June 21st, 2020. The Arctic has been warming twice as fast as the rest of the world. Eight days later, CNN reported that Antarctica has been warming for 30 years three times faster than the rest of the world. Ice is melting.)

How does God drop every major city on earth–including splitting Rome into three parts and dumping her into the sea (Rev 16:19; 18:21)? Study the tectonics under Rome–Scripture has it right! It splits despite colliding African and Eurasian tectonic plates. There is a back-arc causing the split. It’s all tied together in our planet’s system: global warming causes the loss of glaciers and ice sheets; which causes the shifting of weight upon tectonic plates that lie on the fluid, moving, molten rock of earth’s mantle, (and by the way, such shifts of plates will wake up volcanoes around the world–Rev 9:18–killing a third of humankind); causing unimaginable global earthquakes so that “the cities of the nations fell” and mountains moved. (Rev 16:18-21.)

Why does God allow us to know how He is going to do something? First, so we know that something this big is real. It is hard to believe. The Bible says when that earthquake hits, it will be like nothing humankind has ever seen before (Rev 16:18). There is no reason not to take this literally, especially when backed up by science. Second, when we believe it’s real, we have time to repent (change our minds and follow Jesus) and/or to prepare (build our arks). The Bible tells us what. Science tells us how. Both agree. This is God’s mercy–a twofold witness according to the laws of truth. “You must be ready,” (Matt 24:44). It will happen.

However, in Oral Collins’ book, The Final Prophecy of Jesus, Collins ignores the facts from a literal reading of the text, the context, and other hermeneutical rules to suggest that Revelation’s biggest earthquake in history splitting the city into three parts is not an earthquake and not a city, but means instead a “three-fold political division . . . [a] change in the European commonwealth” (Collins, p. 382-3). Within his paragraph, I counted 21 assumptions unsubstantiated by Scripture and not one biblical fact for support.

To the contrary, the three-part geological split of the great city (Rome) is one verse after the biggest earthquake in human history–all of which occur in the seventh bowl (Rev 16:17-21) with lightning, hailstones, islands disappearing, mountains moving, and the fall of all the cities of the nations. This global earthquake(s) is not only possible but highly probable due to glacial rebound caused by the redistribution of weight from the extensive melt of glaciers from global warming; a redistribution of weight across continents shifting their underlying tectonic plates triggering extreme earthquakes. These will be real events.

This is God’s geophysical response to our world wherein everyone creates their own rules, realities, and relationships in defiance of biblical law. This is God’s response after our world has mobilizing Armageddon (Har-Magedon) against His returning Son (Rev 16:12-21). The three-part split is not the political axis of the Antichrist rising in power. It is an act of God!

The maximum of facts with the minimum of assumptions gives the highest probability of accuracy. Multiplying assumptions and ignoring, twisting, or denying facts decreases the probability of accuracy and darkens understanding. Stick with the facts in the Bible and science.

Earthquakes razing cities is realistic. Glacial rebound is scientific. Glacial rebound is caused by melting glaciers from global warming. There is no reason to step outside of the literal facts. The Bible and science say it is real.

Reviewing Extremes

Rev 8:7-12 A third of the earth was burned up, and a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up. . . . a third of the sea became blood, and a third of all the creatures which were in the sea and had life died. . . . a third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the waters, because they were made bitter . . . a third of (the sun, moon, and stars) would be darkened and the day would not shine for a third of it, and the night in the same way. [Everyone of these is a byproduct of the complex system of global warming and climate change. All of these affect extreme weather.]

Rev 16:2-9, 12, 18, 21 On the earth; and it became a loathsome and malignant sore on the people who had the mark of the beast and who worshiped his image. . . . and every living thing in the sea died. . . . and the rivers and the springs of waters; they became blood. . . . The sun . . . scorch(ed) men with fire. Men were scorched with fierce heat [global warming!]; and they blasphemed the name of God who has the power over these plagues, and they did not repent so as to give Him glory. . . . The great river, the Euphrates; and its water was dried up. . . . There were flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder. [These are all byproducts of global warming and tied into a system producing extreme weather.] . . . Huge hailstones, about one hundred pounds each, came down from heaven upon men; and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, because its plague was extremely severe. [The mega-storm system needed to create hailstones the size of bicycle wheels is going to be Himalayan! This is extreme weather!]

Isa 19:7-8 All the sown fields by the Nile will become dry, be driven away, and be no more. And the fishermen will lament, and all those who cast a line into the Nile will mourn, and those who spread nets on the waters will pine away. [From extreme storms to extreme drought bad enough to dry up great rivers like the Euphrates and the Nile; these are signs of worse-case global warming.]

Isa 29:6-8 From the Lord of hosts you will be punished with thunder and earthquake and loud noise, with whirlwind [tornadoes] and tempest and the flame of a consuming fire. And the multitude of all the nations who wage war against (Jerusalem), even all who wage war against her and her stronghold, and who distress her, will be like a dream, a vision of the night. It will be as when a hungry man dreams–and hold, he is eating; but when he awakens, his hunger is not satisfied. Or as when a thirst man dreams–and behold, he is drinking, but when he awakens, behold he is faint and his thirst is not quenched. Thus the multitude of all the nations will be who wage war against Mount Zion.

Rev 6:2-8 As the nations are destabilized by the first four trumpets and bowls, the four “horsemen” will ride. Nations will rise up conquering, exploding in wars, leaving behind famines, accompanied with plagues of pestilence, causing peoples over a fourth of the earth to die.

Covid-19 Pandemic

Personally, I do not think at this time that the covid-19 pandemic is part of the Revelation 6:8 prophecy (the fourth seal/horseman spreading war, famine, and pestilence brining death to a quarter of humankind), although it does qualify for the Luke 21:11 prophecy, “There will be . . . in various places plagues and famines.” And it is part of the end-time extremes spreading death among masses. As of October 2020, worldwide, 37.7 million have caught the coronavirus and over one million have died. In June, China almost licked it, but 18 cases more broke out and the government locked down 400,000 people to stop it in its tracks. By July, their country’s graph was one of the lowest in the world. In contrast to China, the U.S. had 30,000 new cases a day in April; 20,000 in May; 40,000 by the end of June; and 70,000 by the end of July hitting over a thousand deaths a day. By October, 7.7 million Americans have caught it and 214,000 have died–above 1/5 of the world’s death statistic.

President Trump mocked masks and caught it. After receiving the best medical care available, he returned to work mocking it. Eleven of his secret service men caught covid-19 and dozens were quarantined. In July, after shutting down plans for re-election campaigns in two states exploding in covid cases with poles showing him lagging behind Biden, Trump softened on wearing masks. By the end of July, forty states were rising in cases. Cities that had opened bars are closing them again. One church went ahead with choir practice. Fifty-eight caught covid-19. Two died. After a “covid party” of younger adults, as one thirty-something-year-old lay on her death bed, she said, “I thought it was a hoax.” It was a pandemic.

By October 2020, Covid-19 is still globally on the rise including countries with the highest rates (over 14,000 new cases each week) being the U.S.A., Colombia, Argentina, France, Spain, and the UAE.

This microscopic virus shows us how easy it is to shut down societies, to bring jobs to a halt, to send the economy into a tailspin, and to close churches and scatter their people (if they care about the lives of physically weaker people like Jesus did–what we do to the least, we do to Him, Matt 25:40-45). This pandemic has brought a mild disintegration (falling apart) of society. It is a wake-up call. It helps us to visualize, to understand, to taste a sip from a spoon of adversity. Revelation forewarns drowning gulps of adversity from bowls of wrath.

Pastors, churches, families, friends, and individuals–what would you have to do to survive for years in a massive vortex of disintegrating interactive systems shutting down our global civilization? A pandemic gives you a tiny taste of Revelation.

Isa 13:11-13 I will punish the world for its evil and the wicked for their iniquity; . . . I will make mortal man scarcer than pure gold and mankind than the gold of Ophir [Solomon’s gold]. . . And the earth will be shaken from its place at the fury of the Lord of hosts in the day of His burning anger.

Isa 24 Behold, the Lord lays the earth waste, devastates it, distorts its surface and scatters it inhabitants. (Society disintegrates.) The earth will be completely laid waste. . . . The earth mourns and withers, the world fades and withers. . . . The earth is also polluted by its inhabitants, for they transgressed laws. . . . Therefore, a curse devours the earth, and those who live in it are held guilty. Therefore, the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men are left. . . . The earth is broken asunder. The earth is split through. The earth is shaken violently. . . . In that day, the Lord will punish . . . the kings of the earth. They will be gathered together like prisoners in the dungeon . . . for the Lord of hosts will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem.

Rev 6:12-17 From all the kings of the earth to the least of the slaves, all are hiding in caves. Riches have blown away like chaff. Armies have withered into dust. Big cities lie in rubble. Governments have dissolved. Civilization has collapsed. The earth is ready for a new King; Jesus has returned.

Now consider how science mirrors Scripture portraying extremes.

Tornadoes, Hail, and Lightning

Revelation’s global warming puts more heat energy into the atmosphere spawning bigger and bigger storms. Revelation and other books speaking to the end of the end times such as Isaiah, give examples of extreme weather phenomena such as a supercell storm split (the sky unrolling like a scroll), great whirlwinds (tornadoes), lightning storms, and hundred pound hailstones.[1]

A supercell over Belgium on May 25, 2009 produced 30,000 lightning flashes in two hours. The World Meteorological Organization confirmed that on October 31, 2018, the largest lightning strike in history–called a megaflash–hit southern Brazil. It was a spider-like discharge that raced across a horizontal distance of 440 miles.[2]

A single supercell (tower of clouds) with one updraft can evolve into two separate storm systems (two towers of clouds) with two updrafts that separate like an unrolling scroll–Revelation’s description of a superstorm.[3] This is called a “splitting supercell.”According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) one humungous storm can separate into “two mirror-image splitting storms” (split like a scroll), such as the one that hit Indiana on May 28, 1996. [4] Revelation says, “The sky was split apart like a scroll when it is rolled up.”[5] This is an extreme storm.

“Huge hailstones, about one hundred pounds each came down from heaven upon men.”[6] Revelation is portraying extreme weather due to climate change. A megastorm spawning 100 pound hailstones (having the diameter of about 29 inches, the diameter of a bicycle wheel, and could reach a terminal velocity in its fall of 284 m.p.h.[7])  is going to also produce massive tornadoes, lightning, and rain–a plague of destruction. Revelation says extreme weather is going to be indicative of the end of the end times. Let’s consider the rise of one form of extreme weather, tornadoes.

“From the Lord of hosts you will be punished with thunder and earthquake and loud noise, with whirlwind and tempest and the flame of a consuming fire . . . the multitude of all the nations who wage war against (Jerusalem [where Jesus will reign]).”[8]

The National Weather Service (NWS) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) did in depth studies for 2003’s hot year finding extreme weather events in the U.S. Here is just one: An unprecedented [record breaking] series of tornado outbreaks occurred in portions of the Great Plains, Midwest, and Mid-South of the U.S. during the week of May 4 through 10, 2003. During this seven-day period, there were a total of 393 tornadoes resulting in 39 deaths. . . . Six of these tornadoes were classified as violent (F4 or F5) on the Fujita Tornado Intensity Scale.[9]

A few years later in 2011, a tornado outbreak would exceed all records for the highest number of tornadoes in a twenty-four-hour period and rival the worst in violence and destruction. Usually, only one F5 occurs annually. Usually, tornadoes last a few minutes and travel a few miles before dissipating. Usually, tornadoes have wind speeds less than 110 miles per hour. Usually, the average damage per year from tornadoes is about $1 billion.[10] Not that day.

During a 4-day period from April 25-28, 2011, more than 200 tornadoes occurred in five southeastern states. The deadliest part of the outbreak was the afternoon and evening of April 27, when 122 tornadoes resulted in 313 deaths. . . . There were 15 violent (Enhanced Fujita Scale 4 or 5) tornadoes reported. Eight of the tornadoes had path lengths in excess of 50 miles. . . . The event was one of deadliest tornado events since formal record keeping began in 1950. Nationwide, 199 tornadoes developed across 14 states on April 27. . . . In all, 31 of these tornadoes were rated as EF3 or stronger. Eleven tornadoes were EF4 and four were EF5. The average EF4 and EF5 tornado path length was 66 miles. . . . A round of severe thunderstorms preceded the April 27 outbreak.[11]

When the Midwest and Northeast were added to the account of all the days in April 2011, the National Weather Service confirmed 355 tornadoes in 21 states from Texas to New York to southern Canada. In this outbreak, the Joplin tornado totally leveled the city with a wind speed in excess of 200 mph cutting a mile-wide swath.

In the 2011 record-breaking outbreak, 348 died from tornadoes and 24 died from lightning in thunderstorms, hail, and flash floods. This was the largest, costliest ($11 billion), most expansive, and one of the most intense and deadly outbreaks ever recorded. It also broke the record for the most tornado touchdowns in a 24-hour period totaling 211 (the previous record was 147 in the Super Outbreak of April 3-4, 1974).[12]

In 2019, the Washington Post reported another record-breaking year for tornadoes in May following with the National Weather Service confirming with eyewitness reports over 500 observed tornadoes in just 30 days.[13]

The scientific models consistently show that such extreme weather will occur more frequently; storms of the century will happen every decade, then every few years as global warming increases. One of the countries that has taken major action on these highly probable predictions is the Netherlands. “The Dutch are spending billions of euros on ‘floating communities’ that can rise with surging flood waters, on cavernous garages that double as urban floodplains and on re-engineering parts of a coastline as long as North Carolina’s. The government is engaging in ‘selective relocation’ of farmers from flood-prone areas and expanding rivers and canals to contain anticipated swells.”[14] As of 2014, a national effort is underway to upgrade the thousands of miles of dams and dykes that protect the Netherlands.[15] The 1996 Flood Protection Act sets a safety standard of 1/10,000 per year meaning that the coastal flood defense must be high and strong enough to withstand storm surges that have a likelihood of occurrence of 1/10,000 per year. [16] The Dutch are preparing for the unlikely, because global warming is pushing the unlikely into the likely. The 1 in 10,000 will drop to 1 in 100 then 1 in 10. “You also must be ready.”[17]

Droughts and Crop Failures

The North American drought of 2012-2014 in the northern U.S. was an expansion of the 2010-2012 drought which hit the southern U.S. and was on track to become the costliest natural disaster in U.S. history.[18] The drought cost more than $35 billion in the Midwest; corn and soybeans failed. In the south, the Mississippi water levels plummeted. Across 36 states, 1,692 counties were legally declared primary natural disaster areas by August 2012.[19]

The 2010 drought in Russia was the worst in fifty years with high temperatures doubling the price of wheat around the world.[20] The drought forced Russia to ban export of wheat.[21] That summer was the hottest recorded in Russian history and ignited the worst wildfires recorded in their history, only to be surpassed by the fires of 2012. “A combination of the smoke from the fires, producing heavy smog blanketing large urban regions and the record breaking heat wave put stress on the Russian healthcare system. Munich Re [an international insurance company that insures insurance companies] estimated that in all, 56,000 people died from the effects of the smog and the heat wave.”[22] The drought in 2012, from another record-breaking heat wave, cut the wheat production not only in Russia, but in Australia, Argentina, and the U.S. sending wheat prices soaring.[23]

“A warming climate and increasing precipitation [in Russia] will likely expand the amount of land that could be cultivated in the coming years. But economic models predict that largely due to floods, droughts, and heat and cold waves, wheat production could decrease by up to 15 percent within five years.”[24]

Rising Polar Heat, Heat Waves and Death

Hot Saharan summers are encroaching on southern Europe, such as the heat wave that killed 71,449 people within a few weeks in 2003.[25] By 2050, such heat waves are expected once every two years.

CNN, NY Times, and Nature broke the news on June 29, 2020, that the South Pole has been warming at more than three times the global average over the past 30 years, which will have enormous ramifications for rising global sea levels, marine life, and Antarctic ice sheets. Between 1989 and 2018, the South Pole warmed 1.8°C. Scientists said the warming was due to increasing sea surface temperatures thousands of miles away in the tropics, especially the western tropical Pacific Ocean carrying warm air down the South Pole. The World Meteorological Organization stated that Antarctic’s ice sheet contains enough water to raise the global sea levels by nearly 200 feet. Last February, Antarctic reached its hottest temperature every recorded–65°F (18.3°C).[25A]

In June 2020, CBS News broke headlines with the “Arctic records its hottest temperature ever,” which was 100.4°F, 32 degrees above the normal high temperature in the town of Verkhoyansk, Siberia above the Arctic Circle. The area was blazing in fires due to unusually high temperatures since last December. Other areas north of the Arctic Circle such as in Markusvinsa, Sweden hit 94.6°F last summer 2019 leading to “the worst fire season on record.”[25B]

Air Pollution

On a windless day, Beijing’s noon sky looks like the twilight zone leaving visibility about a half a block due to a heavy fog of smog.[26] Residents wear masks outdoors. According to the World Bank, coal smoke in the atmosphere kills 1.9 million people a year throughout China establishing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (emphysema and chronic bronchitis) as the leading cause of death.[27]

For 2018, the worst cities in the world for air pollution were in Asia and the Middle East, especially India, which took 22 of the top 30 slots. However, making the top 100 list included cities in China, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Mongolia, Kuwait, and Nepal.[28] Some cities suffer from pollution from ozone (smog), while others from ammonia from livestock excrement and fertilizer. The poor air quality spawns a host of health problems including respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.[29] The American Lung Association reported that over 133.9 million Americans–that is two out of every five people, an increase of 125 million in the 2017 report–now live in counties with unhealthy air pollution. That includes ozone (smog) and/or particle pollution (soot, dust, chemicals that damage lungs, etc.) leading to lung cancer, asthma, and other lung-associated diseases.[30] The worst U.S. cities in 2018 for air pollution were spread from the west to east coast.[31] These are only a few of the cities that the American Lung Association lists with heavy air pollution that are beyond safe levels and endanger health.

“The sun and the moon grow dark and the stars lose their brightness.”[32] The skies grow dark when massive fires consume millions of acres; towering storm cells spawn extraordinary hurricanes and tornadoes; factories pour more than 40 billion tons of CO2 and pollutants into the atmosphere producing smog so thick that noonday becomes twilight. Just imagine how bad this is going to be when–as Revelation says–one-third of the time during the day and night across the world the skies are darkened.

Ice never lies. The rising global temperatures have been melting “perma”frost across the northern tundra, scorching towns above the Arctic Circle with 100°F temperatures, and warming the Arctic two times (2xs) faster and Antarctica three times (3xs) faster than the rest of the world. Only 26 of the original 150 glaciers observed in 1850 in Glacier National Park, Montana remain. Between 1993 and 2016, NASA calculated that Greenland has lost 286 billion tons of ice per year and Antarctica 127 billion tons per year. The Arctic has lost 95% of its oldest ice. These are extremes. They are increasing. They are only the tip of the iceberg.

Worldwide–catastrophic disasters such as forest fires, floods, tornadoes, lightning storms, hurricanes, droughts, deadly heat waves, . . . are all rising in intensity, expanding in territory, inflating in cost, and destabilizing the communities, states, or even countries they ravage. Yet, they are only the beginning. If scientists have gotten anything wrong, it has been to underestimate the growing speed and intensity of what NASA’s James Hansen calls “The Coming Climate Catastrophe” and its ramifications in this complex global system.

Science is uncovering ever-growing, record-breaking, devastating events around the world across many fields. Scripture is describing what scientists call the worst case scenario of global warming, extremes in weather, and geophysical upheavals; their ramifications, consequences, and future direction. They are racing toward the global collapse of civilization. It is hard to believe. But it is true, and we must push past the built-in inertia of society, of church, of family, of our own habitual ways of thinking (“not me, not now, no how,” or like Trump, “stop testing,”) and instead, train our thinking in the laws of truth to test reality, to discern reality, and to face reality. Mountains of evidence are pouring in from across the earth. The Bible and science are decades out in front of us in knowledge and understanding of the near-future state of this planet. The Bible and science are the two watchmen on the wall shouting down to us to wake up, to catch up, and to get ready–like Noah did–for those we love, because a devastating “flood” of catastrophes is going to inundate this planet.
